Established in 1969, the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières has a yearly intake of 10,000 students. Entrants to the University have a choice of 150 programs at the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels. Some of these programs, such as Podiatry, Social Communication, Chiropractics and Midwifery are unique to UQTR, and not offered in other Quebec universities.

UQTR offers a friendly environment which fosters a sense of community and positive rapport between professors and students. Classes, which are generally small, are conducive to interactive classroom discussions and greater student achievement.

UQTR is recognized for the quality and diversity of its programs, the dedication of its professors and staff and the rich array of cultural and social activities offered on and off campus.

UQTR offers two programs specially tailored to meet the needs of Chinese students: A Bachelor's in Industrial Engineering and a Bachelor's in Management Science.
